Security Platform Abode Launches New Smart Home Automation System

Minnesota based DIY home security and automation systems provider Abode has recently introduced a new customizable smart home security system called Abode Cue to make powerful home automation systems available to everyone. The new system will interface with smart home products including Google Assistant, Amazon Echo, Nest, and more.

Abode Launches New Smart Home Automation System

The system, part of Abode’s professional grade DIY home security and automation, can be self installed in minutes and requires no additional tools for installation. It will further allow the users to create, edit and manage all the automations which work on If This, Then That (IFTTT) model which analyzes present conditions and automates a response automatically when specific events occur.

The system consists of just two fundamental components: a trigger and an action which enables the users to build a DIY IFTTT platform. Dictating conditions to smart home devices seems to be an additional layer of customization which Abode hasn’t rampantly advertised previously. According to Abode, the automation platform only responds when the event occurs and performs an action only if the trigger is true. This means the actions are conditioned based on what Cue is detecting at that particular time. Like all its security and automation solutions, Abode Cue is also offered without any long term contracts and required monthly fees but has an optional professional monitoring plan.

Abode CEO and founder Christopher Carney said in a press release that the addition on this extra conditional layer makes Cue a standard for making homes intelligent with install-it-yourself security systems for the smart home while also setting it apart from the standard DIY home security systems currently available.

He further added that the device has been created after taking feedback from a large customer based and designed based on their home security preferences which make it more powerful than other customizable programs.

In addition to the third layer of security which Abode claims to be a new standard in terms of home security, Cue also allows the users to create automations that feature multiple triggers which are grouped together using the word “Or”; and also multiple actions with the word “And”.

Additional triggers to create automations in groups include: Status Triggers which perform an action based on the changing modes from ‘Home’ to ‘Away’; Schedule Triggers based on a user-defined schedule; and, Location Triggers that perform an action based on a geo location that is linked to a mobile device.
